*** INSEGNANTI ***
Nejc si avvicina al ballo swing nel 2003, combinando la sua esperienza nelle danze contemporanee e una grande passione per la musica jazz. Rappresenta, per questo motivo, il principale responsabile della diffusione del Lindy Hop e del Balboa in Slovenia fin dai primi anni 2000. Dal 2010 insegna svariati generi di ballo swing — Lindy hop, Balboa, Charleston, Blues — dapprima autonomamente e ad oggi presso la scuola Studio Dansa di Lubiana. Viaggia assiduamente, insegnando in workshops internazionali e diffondendo la sua passione per lo swing; partecipa inoltre a molte competizioni internazionali, spesso classificandosi primo (Lindy Shock, Rock That Swing, sia il Solo Jazz che il Jack’n’Jill al Ljubljana Sweet Swing festival l’anno scorso). La sua esperienza nel ballo swing é una combinazione di continue ricerche stilistiche, di innumerevoli workshops internazionali e di una costante voglia di apprendere da ogni fonte disponibile. Pone particolare attenzione alla gestualità jazz, al controllo del movimento e alla sua musicalità, tutti elementi essenziali nelle discipline di ballo swing.
Elena è appassionata di jazz e tutto quanto sia ad esso collegato sin dalla tenera età. La sua passione per questo genere si esprime dapprima attraverso la musica, ed il pianoforte in particolare, per poi estendersi al mondo del ballo swing a partire dal 2014. Da allora frequenta regolarmente workshops a Lubiana e partecipa a festival internazionali (Snowball, Orient Lindy Express, Ljubljana Sweet Swing Festival, Swingin’Graz, ViSwiFt, ATSf e tanti altri), che le hanno permesso di migliorare ed acquisire stili legati a vari generi (dal Lindy Hop e Six Count al Solo Jazz e Tap Dance, dal Collegiate Shag al Balboa). E’ co-fondatrice dell’associazione The Swing Freaks, attiva a Trieste e Capodistria, per la quale tiene corsi di Lindy Hop e workshops da diversi anni. Quando è lontana dalla pista di ballo si dedica, con entusiasmo coinvolgente, all’organizzazione di festival o eventi swing in riva al mare.

Lindy Hop classes start on 28/09/2017 and will be held every Thursday evening, with three different levels!

*** TEACHERS ***
Nejc started dancing swing back in 2003 as a result of his contemporary dance experience and a strong love for jazz music. Because of this he became the main culprit for the popularization of Lindy Hop and Balboa in Slovenia in the early 2000s. Since 2010, he has been teaching various swing dances — Lindy hop, Balboa, Charleston, Blues — first on its own across Slovenia and now at the Studio Dansa dance school. He travels extensively to teach at international workshops, sharing his love of swing, and also competes in many international competitions, winning quite a few (Lindy Shock, Rock That Swing, both the Solo Jazz and the Jack’n’Jill at the Ljubljana Sweet Swing festival last year,…). His swing dance experience is a collection of endless research into different dance forms, many international workshops, show troupes and his humble willingness to keep learning from anybody who is willing to teach him. He pays special attention to jazz body movement, control and musicality, all quintessential to any swing dancing.
Elena has been a fan of jazz and everything related since a young age, and never misses a concert of the greatest jazz masters. At the start, she would express her interest in the genre through piano playing, but has become a passionate swing dancer ever since she learned the first steps in 2014. Dancing regularly at workshops in Ljubljana, as well as at international swing dance festivals such as Snowball, Orient Lindy Express, LSSF, Swingin’ Graz, ViSwiFt, ATSF, she also picked up various related styles (Lindy Hop, Six-Count, Solo Jazz, Collegiate Shag, Step Dance, and Balboa). She is the co-founder of swing society The Swing Freaks which is based in the Trieste-Koper coastal region and where she has been teaching Lindy Hop classes and workshops for several years. When not swinging away on the dance floor, she eagerly tries to think of ideas for the next seaside dance event or festival.
