Having toured the world several times over, sold out The Royal Albert Hall, and performed at Glastonbury festival and Buckingham Palace on more than one occasion, the Jive Aces are undoubtedly the foremost jive and swing band in the world today with a line-up that hasn’t changed in over 20 years.

This latest album, the band’s 12th, marks the 20th Anniversary of this line up. “DIGGIN’ THE ROOTS Vol. 1: ROCKIN’ RHYTHM & BLUES” is inspired by the early influences that generated that initial enthusiasm and lit the flame that started the Jive Aces off on their musical journey.

Such influences include Big Joe Turner, Louis Jordan, Ruth Brown and the great Louis Prima who was the single biggest influence on the band.

They wanted to capture the carefree enthusiasm that first turned them on to this music when they started, combined with the sheer joy and energy they generate at a live show today and they wanted to record it at a quality of sound that was able to capture every nuance of the genre they love.

The Jive Aces first heard the recordings of these great artists on the radio and in Rock ’n’ Roll clubs and rushed out to purchase them on vinyl as you did in those days and so the they have made this new album available on both compact disc and 12 inch vinyl.

The band have just returned from a six-week tour of the United States ending in Las Vegas where they showcased the album at the International Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Festival, the largest of its kind in the world.

The album was recorded at Mad Hatter Studios in Los Angeles and Cleartrack Studios in Clearwater Florida using state of the art equipment and experienced mixers who were keen to capture the full flavour of what the band were laying down.

Making a special guest appearance on the album is singer and actress Cassidy Janson who is in her second year of playing the lead role of Carole King in the hit musical “ Beautiful” in London’s Aldwych Theatre.

Cassidy is a dear friend of the band and had the pleasure of singing to 60,000 people at Hyde Park last year alongside Carole King on a duet of Natural Woman.

The Jive Aces have come a long way since their beginnings in Romford Essex where they first met through their love of hot Jive and rock ’n’ roll music. They recorded their first single on 7” vinyl which pricked up the ears of several European promoters leading to their first tour of Europe. They haven’t looked back since with a tour schedule of 250 or more shows a year all around the world.

They have performed at the Cannes Film Festival and their music video for ” Bring Me Sunshine” has clocked up more than three million views and won seven film festival awards. A doctor in Seattle even made the news for prescribing the video as a cure for depression.

The band have worked alongside an impressive array of people, most notably John Travolta and Van Morrison and won a five-star review for their show at the Edinburgh Fringe showcasing the music of Louis Prima and Keely Smith

The Jive Aces were the first band to appear and perform live on Britain’s Got Talent and famously put Simon Cowell in a good mood, reaching the semi finals in 2012.

There is a video release planned this year for one of the self penned tracks on the album ” Rock n Roll Movie Star” and a further tour of the US is planned for November.

Meanwhile the Jive Aces are touring the UK and Europe to promote the new album.

The members of the band are:

  • Ian Clarkson – Vocals, Trumpet and Ukelele
  • Ken Smith – Double Bass
  • Peter Howell – Drums
  • Vince Hurley – Piano
  • John Fordham – Sax, Clarinet
  • Alex Douglas – Trombone, Harmonica
